Roberta's Story
Life
I was born in a small town in Massachusetts, in 1960. Because of Asthma we moved to Arizona in 1968 thru 1973 when we learned my Grandfather was dieing of cancer so we returned to Massachusetts. My parents divorced in 1975 so back to AZ with my Mom. In '76 I moved back with my Dad for about 6 months and went to Dover High. Too small town for me, so back to AZ I went. My mother let me get a job instead of going back to school. So then was the end of my Junior year and the beginning of my Employed years. I met my first husband, the love of my life, in a Disco bar in 1978. We married in 1980 and because of my own personal reasons we were divorced in 1985. Then I met the father of my three beautiful children. My oldest boy is now 18. He dropped out of High school in his sophomore year, however, he got his GED within a year and has continued with Junior College. In 1990 I was blessed with Twin Boys!!
School
I started my school years in MA at Center School. In the 2nd grade we moved to AZ and I was in Squaw Peak Elementary. In the 6th grade we moved back to MA . Again we moved to in I think my Sophomore year were I went to Camelback High school. At the age of 16 I wanted to m...Expand for more
ove back to live with my Dad in MA in my Junior year. Upon returning to AZ I dropped out and started working and have been working ever since, but that's another story!
Workplace
My very first job was working in the attendance dept. in the school office. Then I lasted 3 days at KFC, (not good in somebody else's kitchen). Sold shoes one summer. Then I actually got a job at AAA with my Mom in Airline and I in Domestic Travel. Had a child and went to working nights bartending. (Good money..bad scene). Had my twins 5 years after my first. Now I had "My Three Sons." Then I was blessed to get a job that I really enjoyed, a place I could have retired at. It was like they knew about 9/11 before it happened. They closed our call center instead of the one that closes every third day of winter! Lucky enough to grab a seat at another call center doing the same job, however, working for a non-profit organization is not all it's cracked up to be. So, needless to say, I have been unemployed since October of 2003. I feel like I'm in an early retirement. I just hope that I get to enjoy it soon!
Update: I am back with my family. My three sons are all grown up and moved away. ....It's time to enjoy life!!!!
